Surprise! We moved! Let the remodel begin

Well, having a baby sure changes things. Suddenly you do not care about“ walkability” to Starbucks.

You care about your upstairs tenant waking up your baby. You care that you child now crawls out the doggy door to be met with a huge flight of steps and brick patio.

A historic duplex was no longer right for us. With that we were off to a new home. Something we can see ourselves in for 10-15 years. Maybe less, maybe more. After all, I do not believe in forever homes. Just a home you need now for this season of life. This season is for the babies.

Named “ Algeria”. This patio now leads to the ADU downstairs and to stairs up to ur patio.

Let me introduce you to our 1935 Spanish farmhouse called “Algeria” , or so it says in lettering on the front of the house…which is now the side (I will explain later). Originally built on 5 acres, this home used to sit on an avocado orchard. We are fortunate to still have 4 large avocado trees. Score!

Ok, back to it. Eventually the family prior to us sold of parcels of land, and created an additional road to our house. What was once the front of the house, is now the side of the house leading to the downstairs ADU, garage and storage. Through the years many things were added, such as a massive closet in my sons room, the entire primary wing, more storage ect. you name it. This house has had some add ons. Non that I can complain about. You see, I love me an old home. Algeria just needed a bit of love. And

So here we are. Having just finished our expansive remodel, its time to reflect on how far we have come. Lets go back to the beginning and show you the “before”.

And from here, the hard work began. We lived in construction for over 6 months, and let me tell you. It was worth it. We put a lot of love and attention into this home. Its truly a dream.

Well, the house is officially ours. View from our back patio.
